The Società culturale di Bregaglia had been running the Museo Ciäsa Granda since 1952. In 2023 the museum and the collections were handed over to the newly established «Fondazione Museo Ciäsa Granda e Atelier Giacometti». In addition to running the museum, the foundation was given the following tasks for the coming years:
- Renovation and expansion of the Ciäsa Granda
- Renewal of the outdated exhibitions
- Professionalisation of the museum
Foundation purpose
The purpose of the foundation is to collect, preserve, conserve, research and communicate the art, culture, history and nature of Bregaglia and its links with the world. The basis for this are the existing collections of the Museo Ciäsa Granda on art, geology, zoology, history and ethnography. The foundation is a non-profit organisation.
To fulfil its purpose, the foundation operates the Museo Ciäsa Granda. Its collections are made accessible to the public in permanent and temporary exhibitions and utilised for education, science and tourism.
The foundation may engage in other activities that serve to fulfil its purpose or are related to it.
