A LARGE AND COMPREHENSIVE
COLLECTION OF LOCAL MINERALS
This was assembled over many years and exhaustively explores the wealth of different minerals of the region. When a dam was constructed, numerous samples were drilled and extracted from the ground, samples of which now form part of the collection on view.
From Pranzeira in the valley, a cablecar will take the visitor to the foot of the dam. From there many different routes can be taken to explore the mountains. For further information, also for didactic routes, we refer you to the following link.
THE LOCAL FAUNA
On two floors in the museum are housed countless animals within their respective habitat. Over 50 dioramas have been installed and delight children and adults alike.
Hopefully this installation also encourages walks in nature, in hope of observing the living animals in person. One helpful site cited herewith.
